Identifying fraud red flags, documentation in their claims system, contacting me in a timely fashion, etc. I'm talking about a program with adjusters that go above and beyond. Loss prevention would be nice as well built into our premium. A program that thinks outside the box. Not just some generic pdf documents on their website.
I am thinking about becoming a claims adjuster? I have been doing the reasearch and getting the picture that it a stressful job with a hectic schedule. What I am wondering is for property adjusters schedules do they come in the morning and mostly telecommunicate from home or from their car or do they work entirely from home communicating via email and cell phone. If most people work outside the office why is this job so stressful. Is there a quota of claims you have to settle? I also read people are laid off I was wondering how many times any of you have been laid off and how long? Also I was wondering how often do you get a raise and what determines if you get a bonus and are claims adjusters really climbing up roofs?

Question for claim adjusters and insurance agents? I am looking for any adjusters or agents who can tell me if a plumbing fixture company has a liability insurance carrier. We have a product defect claim against Jameco International based in NJ. They are not cooperative at all. I'm looking mostly for the insurance carrier info, but will take any info regarding how any claims were settled with them. Also, would like to know if adjusters have had files where they had to sue Jameco and if so what state was the suit filed in. Thank you for any help that you can provide it is much appreciated.

Is being a claims adjuster any better than being an insurance agent? I took a job as an health and life insurance agent a few months ago, and I quit after a few weeks because I absolutely hated it. I didn't like doing cold calls and I felt like the company was training me to be a liar. I'm wondering if being a claims agent for an auto insurance company is any better? I have a four-year degree, but I don't have a license for auto insurance or anything. For those who don't want to be an insurance agent, is being a claims adjuster more of the same? Is it hard?
Attention home insurance claims adjusters? Our city, Cincinnati, was hit by a large wind storm last week - 80 mph winds from hurricane Ike remnants. Almost one million homes and business were without power for days - we had no power for 4 days and now need a new roof. A claims adjuster(State Auto) came out and we are waiting for the check . We also have up to $1000 in food replacement. (We lost everything in our fridge and deep freezer.)My question is: How carefully do they look at the receipts? For example do they look at/care about whether you are buying lobster or ground beef? Should it all be on one receipt? They did say that because this was such a large catastrophic event, that a claim would not effect our future rates. Just curious if they care what you are buying. I know it needs to be perishable type items... Edit: Thx for the response. Yes, I realize rates do go up overall when large events occur and does eventually effect all policyholders.. I was referring to our individual policy taking a hit because of the claim... Please don't assume that we are taking advantage of the situation. $1000 may see like alot to some people, but not to us. A 20 sq foot freezer holds(held...) a lot of meat. The question still remains: Do they actually go through the receipt and read each item or do they only... look at see if its a grocery item?

What can I do if my insurance claims adjuster reported two incidents for one accident? I hit my wife's car, backing out of a garage, couple of years ago and I just found out that my insurance company, MERCURY, reported this incident as two separate incidents, one for my car and one for my wife's car. I was trying to change my insurance carrier and found out that I'm not classified as a "good driver" because I have two incidents in 3 year period on my driving record. Mercury insurance intentionally did this to get 2 deductible payments from me ($500 to fix my car and $500 to fix my wife's car) Is there anything I can do to undo what this terrible company has done?
What is the best tactic to argue with an insurance claims adjuster? I just bought a car for 6500, sunk in an extra 1000 (have receipts), and crashed it. They are offering me 5100, and that's BEFORE my deductible. That's less than I still owe on the car! What is the best way to argue my case without shooting myself in the foot (cussing, threatening, etc... i figure those options are out)? adding details: its a 1995 acura legend, in near-perfect condition, but with 174000 miles on it. blue book is 5,800-6500. i'd admit that MAYBE i overpaid by 200-300 dollars... but that's it! they're offering me 5100!!!!! and they won't budge. i got the supervisor's name and # but i haven't called yet. i have AAA insurance.
