Insurance Claims? Can anyone tell me exactly what an insurance claims person does? What's the environment like? And what kind of degree/job experience is usually required. thanks Wow, thank you SO much. That was very detailed. I appreciate it. :)
I have an open insurance claim at my job, what to expect from adjuster? My daughter found a hypodermic needle in a room we were staying in at my workplace. My daughter was poked with this needle and it has caused nothing but heartache not knowing if she has anything. I have opened a claim with my jobs insurance and I wanted to know what to expect from the adjuster and how much should we negoitate for.
Anyone work or ever worked auto insurance claims? I just graduated college and it looks like I'm gonna get a job offer to work auto insurance claims for Allstate Insurance. Does anyone know anything about this kind of work? Is it boring? Basically I just wanna know what its like cause it doesn't immediately seem like something I would like but I can't honestly say because I don't know anything about it. The biggest reason I'm thinking about it so hard is because the start off pay is really good (34,000) while most of the other types of jobs i'm looking at start at about 29,000-30,000. Thank you all for your advice. I really appreciate it! Looks like its at least worth a try for a couple years. I just hope I'm not too nice/wishy washy for it.
I am looking for a career in Insurance Claims, but I only have a small amount of experience...? I am looking for a career in Insurance Claims, but I only have a small amount of experience, I will be finishing my bachlors degree in a couple months and would like to get a head start on job searching. What Insurance companies are known for taking on college graduates with not alot of claims training? Thank you for replying and I appreciate your wisdom. Can you give me a heads up on companys not to apply with, or to watch out for. Also why do you have to have a good credit score?
How much do Claims Examiners make in? California/Los Angeles? I just got a job processing medical claims through an agency at a benefits administrator trust company. I am making $19.00/hr. I am very experienced, although the last 2 1/2 years I was working in real estate (yes, I jumped in the band wagon, I know). I was a claims Supervisor in my last insurance job and I'm probably overqualified for the regular examiner's job I took, but I figure it was a good way to get back into claims/insurance and into a "corporate" job, not to mention refreshing my skills. I guess my qx is: how much are Claims Examiners making nowadays? how does my salary compare?..... I was making the same money ($40K) at my last Claims Supervisor job, but that was 2.5 years ago (and I was underpaid). Any comments from someone in the industry or in HR are greatly appreciated. Thanks
Info re: Insurance Claims Processing job -? I'm looking into this job and want to know what people's experiences are within that type of job and get info re if there's room for advancement if the pay is good, etc...

How do I get a job as an insurance claims adjuster for an auto insurance company? I am interested in changing my career to become a claims adjuster. Now I work in a body shop as a painter's helper / jamb man. I have a bachelor's degree in Economics and I once held an insurance license in South Carolina for life, accident and health insurance sales. I don't like selling, though. I have a good eye for detail, particularly with paint work and I am proficient with digital photography and computers. I need to know if my experience is enough to get an entry level job as an adjuster or perhaps a similar type of job inspecting work from body shops for insurance companies. Also, what duties would such a job entail, and what is the typical pay scale I could expect upon entry and after I have done the job for a few years? Is there anything I can do now to better prepare me for the switch, such as getting some kind of license or specific research I could do online to train myself in my spare time? Thanks in advance. The more detailed information you can give me the better.
What advancement opportunities are there in Insurance field for claims adjusters? Thinking about doing this after graduation. I'm currently working on an undergrad in Agri-business but I'm also considering an MBA. A job as a claims adjuster seems desirable and obtainable at the moment, however I'm unaware or the advancement opportunities as well as salary potential. I'd like to eventually make a six figure income as well.
Is being a claims adjuster any better than being an insurance agent? I took a job as an health and life insurance agent a few months ago, and I quit after a few weeks because I absolutely hated it. I didn't like doing cold calls and I felt like the company was training me to be a liar. I'm wondering if being a claims agent for an auto insurance company is any better? I have a four-year degree, but I don't have a license for auto insurance or anything. For those who don't want to be an insurance agent, is being a claims adjuster more of the same? Is it hard?
Will I get a new paint job for an insurance claim? I have 5 spots on my car that got hit that I can recognize from an incident were my car got wedged. Basically I know for sure three wheel wells, the hood and front bumper were badly scratched (to the body). The body shop explained to me that the insurance company will only cover the areas hit. But basically almost every part of my car has scratches from the accident. Can they really do this? My car is going to look like a circus car with new paint on half the panels and old paint on the others.

Does Progressive advocate well for their clients with car insurance claims? I got a letter today from Progressive, 17 months after a minor fender-bender in which the police officer didn't even cite me because there was no damage to either car nor were either of us hurt, that "it appears that the damages may be in excess of my coverage limits." Progressive already paid her $300 for cosmetic damage to her bumper, but apparently after all this time she is submitting something else. Do car insurance companies do a good job of representing the client? I'm starting to feel like a victim!
How can I speed up insurance claim processing? My family and I are trying to find an appropriate residential treatment facility for my sister (who suffers from bipolar disorder and substance abuse). One of the facilities we spoke with accepts insurance but informed us that since this can be considered a "pre-existing condition" and her insurance is relatively new (her husband recently switched jobs), there's an extended waiting process of possibly 6 months. Is there anything we can do to speed up the claim processing? Insurance provider is bluecross of ca.

What is the best way to file a AD&D insurance claim so it is not denied? I know ins. co's automatically deny claims. That is their job and they hope you will give up. How can I force them to actually investigate my claim without my having to jump through hoops? And what can I do up front to get them to contact doctors and hosptials regarding the claim? Sorry, I must explain.. I don't have an agent. This is a policy which was attached to a bank account. No agent was involved. I have to do this myself and it is for Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. I worked for an insurance company for 20 years. Insurance companies are scoundrels. I didn't work in claims so that is why I was looking for someone who might know something about how to handle claims. I appreciate your input. Thanks. I am absolutely honest, all premiums are paid but I just really think the insurance company is going to try to balk at this claim. It is not small. That is why I think that. I am probably being overly concerned due to the fact that I have no agent to represent me and I am at the mercy of a large insurance company. But I don't think it will be a cake walk for me either. I just don't think they will try too hard to pay a large claim. That's all. I am worried I will do the wrong thing or not do enough of the correct things and they are not obligated to tell me what to do in order to be successful in filing the claim. I don't think they have to help me, do they? Is it their responsibilty to do that if they don't use agents to sell their product?
Any advice on filing health insurance claims for TMJ? I've had TMJ (jaw joint) problems for half my life, and because of job hopping I've dealt with a lot of health insurance companies. NONE however pay claims for TMJ disorder despite the fact it's not a dental problem- it's a joint problem, like a hip or shoulder! Problem is, you don't see an orthopaedist for your jaw, you see a dentist or other dental-type doctor who specializes in TMJ. And health insurance companies won't accept a claim from a doctor like that. If anyone has any input on how to successfully make a claim and get at least some benefit from my insurance company, let me know. Year after year I pay thousands of dollars out of pocket and get zero reimbursement- despite the fact I'm paying insurance premiums year in and year out! It's not enough of a % of my gross income to deduct from my taxes for some reason, according to my tax advisor.
when starting new car insurance, can insurers decline no claims bonus due to 2 motorway speeding convictions? Hello, I am trying to arrange vehicle insurance. I have contacted A&L with regards to their car insurance. Basically I have just changed jobs, where I had company cars for the last 6 years with no claims. I asked A&L if they would accept this as no claims, and they said they would if I could provide a letter from my previous employers stating dates, that I was sole user, that I no longer have policy and that it expires within last 3 months etc. I have provided them with the letter which covers all areas requested. They have now replied back to me saying that they can't accept the no claims, as I have 2 SP30 (Motorway speeding) convictions within the last 5 years, which means they will not accept the no claims. Is this acceptable? I though no claims were only relinquished if a claim in made against a policy, not because I have a couple of run-of-the-mill speeding convictions. Thanks in advance, James
Shortfall in National Insurance/Job seekers allowance? I was told I may not be able to claim Job seekers allowance as I had a shortfall in my National Insurance in the year 2002 (I had my daughter in 2002) I asked if this should be taken into consideration and was told no. I have worked ever since I left school and now when I am asking for help I am being told I may not be entitled. This just sounds wrong.
Can I claim a nose job on my insurance? I broke my nose several years ago and I am now turning 17 and am thinking about a nose job, but of course they are horrendously expensive, would it be possible to claim it on health insurance because I do have some breathing difficulty when my mouth is shut and it is crooked! So vain I know but..thanks
Should I retroactively activate my COBRA for 1 month of coverage when I was between jobs if have insurance now? It is the beginning of April now. I was laid off from my job at the end of February. I have 2 months to activate my COBRA which will then be active from the last day of my job, or in other words, no gap in insurance coverage. I recently started a new job and am eligible for health insurance to start as of April 1. My only preexisting condition is high blood pressure which was diagnosed 3 years ago. What I am curious about is if there is any reason to activate my COBRA for the month of March? Nothing happened to me during this month. But because of that gap in coverage in March, say if I was diagnosed with cancer 3 months from now, could my new insurance deny my claims because they could say I became ill while I was uninsured? Or for any other reason?

When do I stop Unemployment Insurance? I have been out of work since may and have been filing weekly unemployment insurance claims. I just started full time work today but I will not get my first check until July 24th. Can I still file a weekly claim until the week I get paid for my new job?
How long do you have to file an auto insurance claim? About 1 yr ago I was laid off and the next day I came out to find my car was backed into in a parking lot.I was depressed about losing my job and did not have extra money for a deductible so I did not file a claim.I am now hearing that this would of been fixed and the deductible waived because I was hit in a parking lot.Does anyone know anything about this type of thing? I live in Michigan !!!
Fake car insurance claims, for injuries and car damage? Hi, recently I accidentally tapped the back of someones car while in traffic just before a roundabout, I must have been travelling around 0.5mph as I was just edging forward. It slightly scratched the other persons bumper, no dent, this was the only damage and the driver was 100% fine. He has now claimed for £800 worth of damage to the car, saying he needed a new bumper, paint job and also for the inside of his boot that was somehow dented. To top this off, he is now claiming for injuries. My insurance company say there is nothing they can do about this, as I have no evidence that he is making false claims, surely there is something I can do, he shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. Needless to say that I will pay for this by my insurance going up in price for the next few years until the claim is erased from my account.
I heard that 24,000 new jobs were created . What about the 1 million lost in the last month? UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE WEEKLY CLAIMS REPORT SEASONALLY ADJUSTED DATA In the week ending Sept. 1, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 318,000, a decrease of 19,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 337,000. The 4-week moving average was 325,750, an increase of 500 from the previous week's revised average of 325,250. Roughly 300,000 each week are filling and that means about 1.2 million people losing jobs compared to the 24,000 created it seems like the economy is really in the dumper these days despite everything cons try to say about it .

Urgent help needed. Insurance claims? A shop manager has been has asked by her employer to lie in a letter for an insurance claim. -The claim is for items that were shoplifted, while the manager was not present, which is exactly what she stated in the police report. -If she was not present the Insurance company will pay the claim, now the employesr asks that she write to the insurance company saying she was present. Help: what are the technicalities and implications if she writes such letter? (she risks losing her job if she does not cooperate) PS I meant the insurance will NOT pay the claim if the manager was not present.
What costs would I incur if I cancelled my car insurance accident claim? I snapped a coil spring on the front shock absorber of my car as a result of crashing into a speed ramp and the car is no longer drivable. I tried to do the job myself but was unable to do it. I have now made an insurance claim and the insurance companies recommended garage gave me a quote to replace both front shock absorbers which is quite expensive. My no-claims bonus is protected. Since making the insurance claim, I have found a garage that said he could finish the job I started at a reasonable price.I am now thinking I would like to cancel the claim end get my car back unrepaired. Is this advisable and would my insurance premium still be affected at renewal time. Also, as my car wasn't drivable after the accident and the garage had to collect it from my house and will have to bring it back.
California laws re: job abandonment and unemployment insurance? I have an employee who last contacted us on Monday morning to say he would be late. He never showed up and we have not heard from him yet, despite phone messages left at his house Tuesday and today. I know we can assume he has abandoned his job and terminate his employment, but will our unemployment insurance reserve account be hit when he files an unemployment insurance claim?
Car repainting rock chips insurance and bad paint job I need help!? I was in an automobile accident where my car's bumper was replaced and painted. Unemployment insurance with Temp Agency? I am with Temp Agency for more than 16 months. My employer has not transferred me to a regular employee as he promised due to company's freeze policy, yet I see other new hires become new regular employer every months. Can I quit my job and claim Unemployment Insurance?
Car accident insurance claims question? I was in an auto accident in VA. I was the passenger of the vehicle and the person t-boned the entire side of the vehicle I was in. The person that hit us was at fault and received a ticket. They didn't have car insurance so my girlfriend’s car insurance is paying for everything. I was rushed to the ER and injured my neck, shoulder, chest, back and wrist. I am currently going to PT and OT. The physical therapist said I have musculoskeletal injuries. I have to take 4 different meds a day and I have chest pain several times a day. The current (some) bills and lost wages are over 6k as of right now and my physician says I will be in PT for at least another month. I haven’t been able to work my pt job because of the type of work I do there but I have been able to go to my full time job. How much should I expect for pain and suffering. I can't even lift a bag of groceries now because my wrist hurts so badly. I don't want to get a lawyer since they take all the money. The insurance company already told me they are going to pay for my lost wages.
to insurance claims adjusters...? Do you have to go through some kind of training on how to be the biggest, meanest, nastiest, most unpleasent, rudest person on the face of the earth ?? I work in insurance myself and have had to deal with one personaly (NAF accident) so I have had pretty many times where I have to deal with you,and you guys and gals are just nasty ! At least that has been my experience,EVERYTIME! So whats up with that ? Is that a job requirement? Or is this just a natural ability you are hired in for having ?!!! I know how it is dealing with insurance,I know the lies and and the deceit that goes along with the job,but guess what,I don't treat customers like you do. There are other ways people !!!!
Should employers fight unemployment insurance claims when someone is fired due to a poor fit? At my old employer they recently fired a number of employees who were not a good fit because they had to cut expenses. All of the people fired were not given any severance or notice or any progressive discipline at all. Though many of them had been talked to by their boss in the past informally and told they did not fit in with the team or were generally a bad fit personality wise. After they were fired all of them went down and applied for unemployment insurance and thought that they would be able to survive on this until they found a new job. Later all of them found out the employer had decided to fight the unemployment insurance of each person who was fired, so their rates would not rise. They said the employees should not be eligible for unemployment because they were fired for personality problems and did not change their personality when counseled by the managers. Is this ethical?
